I got the NOA4e version 2.0.7 from this site and setup with my eclipse editor (eclipse 3.2 for linux). My OS is RedHat AS 4 (Kernel 2.85) and Open Office version 2.0.3. I try open open office writer (with the extension is .odt) in eclipse, the NOA4e plugin luanch openoffice and put it in eclipse, but I could not find the caret anywhere in this screen (NOA4e plugin openoffice editor), then I try update file contents but nothing is happend. Please help me solve this problems or explain me details why I can edit or update the file contain using NOA4e plugin.

My machine information:
+ OS: Red Hat AS 4 with kernel 2.85
+ Open Office: 2.0.3 (run smoonthly when luanch standard alone).
+ Eclipse: Version 3.2 (got from http://www.eclipse.org) run with gtk.

Thanks for your support.

Note: Please see attachment file for more details. I also tested on another OS (Read Hat WS 4.0 Update 2.0) and got the same result.

Hello,

we have tested NOA4e against SuSe 10. It works well. Which Java version do you use?

Best regards

Hi Andreas,

I'm using jdk-1.5.0.7.
Have you ever tested NOA4e with RedHat ?
Thank your answer.

Hello Tung,

we are working with different operating systems. Im not really sure if we have tested it on ReadHat. Therefore i will look for a RedHat System in our company the next week in order to check the problem. Maybe i can reproduce it then.

Best regards

Dear Markus,

We tested here with your suggestions and it worked fine but with GNOME I couldn't have edit mode because the caret was hide.

Hello Tung,

you are using GNOME. The Office Integration does not work properly on GNOME - there are problems with the Focus. The OpenOffice.org Guys are still working on it. Maybe one of the next OpenOffice.org versions come up with a better support for GNOME.

Sorry, but your problem can only be solved in OpenOffice.org.

Best regards

FWIW, I see the same problem with OOo 2.3 and Eclipse 3.3 on Fedora 8 Test 3. (Wow, that's a lot of 3's). Anyway, I've noticed the following pattern of behavior which is, if consistent, is something of a work-around until the bug is fixed.

Open OO file in RCP using noa4e. Observe that keyboard input to the OO editor is borked. Click File->New Text Document on the OO menu. Type some gibberish in the new window that opens, then close the new window and select "discard" in the close dialog. Keyboard input now works in the original OO editor.

Hi all,

When running on the GNOME please add this variable to Environment when open Open Office using NOA
USE_VCLPLUGIN=kde
It's will work and run smoothly.

Best regards.
Dung Nguyen.

Just a quick hint for ubuntu users:

To get noa4e working on gnome or xfce (the latter is my current favourite), you need to install the package libarts1c2a and its dependencies.

so just issue:
apt-get install libarts1c2a
export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN="kde"
export USE_VCLPLUGIN="kde"

then start the x-server ...and everything works fine.

Markus, it took me some time to figure things out, so I think it may be worth mentioning it in the readme-file.
Thanks again for providing these excellent plugins!

cheers,

Hy Martin

I have the problem descripted above.
I want to use Hermes PowerUser for a Project which uses NOA4e.

I use Ubuntu jaunty but installed KDE. Means i dont use GNOME but i have it installed parallel to KDE.
The PowerUser software is using Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition 1.5.0_15-b04 and Eclipse EPF 1.2.0.2. The OpenOffice Version is 3.1.0. After instalation i got always a creatJNI error so i updated my environment to the latest NOA4e version. Now i OO documents opens but i cannot edit them.

I tried the
export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN="kde"
export USE_VCLPLUGIN="kde"
fix but i was unable to install libarts1c2a. apt.get always says :

Paket libarts1c2 ist nicht verfügbar, wird aber von einem anderen
Paket referenziert. Das kann heißen, dass das Paket fehlt, dass es veraltet
ist oder nur aus einer anderen Quelle verfügbar ist.
E: Paket libarts1c2 hat keinen Installationskandidaten

Why do i use that packet, it seems that this packet has something to do with the sound system.?

I am very new to linux and it would be great if you can help me to handle that!

Thank you very much
